I got one last week - I love it. Used it on guitar cabs and vocals so far. REally warm, punchy low end (like a 421 almost). I like it a lot. And I goddamn HATE shure sm57s with a passion. Totally over-rated mics. While I am ranting, I also don't like 58s and am pretty 'shure' audix's vocal dynamics are also better.

I'm curious to try one.

Yeah, I think that belta actually bought one. From what I remember, it sounded OK...but it's definitely not 'the next 57' as I too remember them saying that. We've used it maybe a handful of times.
Oh, and fuck Mars Volta.

They are handy for times when you're trying to give two distorted guitar sounds their own space in the bigger picture. The build quality is also very solid. My younger brother has been using a Guild S-300D through a Hiwatt in the band he's in and, that combo sounds pretty amazing when you mike it up with just a single I5. Don't know if that helps but, that's my take on the microphone so far.

i exclusivly use audix. live and in the studio.

om-5's for live vocals are great! they also have a good feedback rejection and cause less problems. 58's are pish!

I5's are excellent for guitar and even bass, can also use on percussive instruments!

the d6 is a monster, thats all i have to say!

the d4's are great on bass guitar, floor toms and kick drums, reminiscent of a d112 but better!

cx112 condensers are amazing guitar mics and ive even used them on bass. even better for overheads but do seem to be a tad large.

micro-d's are just clear great little mics that u can put anywhere! sm98 esque.

thier my favourite ones!
