What will you do when Bush wins?

i'll be drunk and dancing in the streets, hitting democats in the head with my nunchucks, yelling stuff like "take back the nation! victory is ours! fuck you huddled masses!" peeing on union laborers shoes, beating up arabs, punching little girls in the teeth, y'know, normal kinda stuff.

dyed-in-the-wool republican over here, buddy!

Well, I've gotten myself convinced that he won't win. I keep thinking that all these people who didn't vote last time, or voted 3rd party are gonna get out in droves and the election won't even be close.....

But if he does, I keep thinking I'm just gonna go there. To D.C. and...... I don't know, but I've been feeling like a total pussy for 3 1/2 years for just rolling my eyes and bitching when he stole the election.

So I'll be playing acoustic guitar on the capitol steps like a fucking stupid hippy.

I'm gonna get stinky rich, wear a dark blue suit most of the time, spew alot of bullshit about unfettered free markets and the benefits of foreign labor. I will drive a Hummer H2 or Escalade. I will consume resources like it is my God Given Right. I will look forward to the Rapture. I will stop engaging in sodomy(or, at least hide it better). I will also exhibit arrogant jingoism and complete solipcism about America's place in the world.

Then I'll blend in perfectly with the other cocksuckers that put him in office again, and they won't notice me when they start ferreting out the "degenerate, non-christians" to send off to be "re-educated" in the "Christian-American Doctrine".

first, to Intern_8033, i suggest getting the faahk out of here! i left this downward spiralling excuse-for-a-"super"power 12 years ago, returning 'from time to time' (including a 2 year chunk for an MA). so i highly recommend greener pastures. if you feel you can stick it out & be part of the solution from within the belly of the beast, more power to you!!! if not, hasta la vista!

second, as n.c. writes, i'm a firm believer in the power of suggestion. do you have any idea how many times Americans (and non-Americans too) mouthed the words "the war in Iraq WILL HAPPEN" with absolute certainty? and then it happened with absolute certainty. so try this: say to yrself "BUSH WILL NOT BE RE-ELECTED" 100 times straight into the mirror. do yr Jack HANDY thing. throw in a few cheesy self-affirmations while yr at it. then, every time you overhear anyone talking about the election, the deplorable state of world affairs, etc., look them deep in the eye, say to yrself silently "these aren't the droids we're looking for," and then start repeating to them (out loud) "BUSH WILL NOT BE RE-ELECTED," ad nauseum.

:)

no matter what happens, i'll end up playing acoustic guitar in front of some sick bastion of power like a fucking stupid hippy.

third, if any of you are bored in the coming months, there's these little cocktail parties:

Sat. 25 Sept.: demonstrate against Neo-Nazi rally (the NSM/National Socialist Movement) at Valley Forge Historical Park, Valley Forge PA. (212) 479 7362 / antifa@onepeoplesproject.com / http://www.onepeoplesproject.com

Sat. 2 Oct.: national memorial procession from Arlington Cemetery to the White House w/ Lila LIPSCOMB ("Fahrenheit 9/11"), Arun GANDHI, Anas SHALLAL, Iraqi War vets, etc. in Washington DC. http://www.peacepledge.org/resist

Sun. 17 Oct.: million worker march for bringing the troops home / money for jobs & healthcare in Washington DC. (212) 633 6646 / antiwar4themillionworkermarch@action-mail.org / http://www.millionworkermarch.org

Sat. & Sun. 13 & 14 Nov.: national student Anti-War conference with CAN/Campus Action Network in New York City NY. info@campusantiwar.net / http://campusantiwar.net

ciao for now...

I am being serious - for the most part.

I think to haved lived in Germany during the Nazi regime would have been most interesting for the person or type of person that would've gone completely unnoticed by anyone. Not to have actively supported the regime, but to have observed, as a "good citizen" and not presented yourself as a target or example for any side/regime/party.

The beauty with America, compared with other Oligarchical/Fascistic regimes in the past, is they really don't give a shit about the average person. Frankly it doesn't matter if you fuck-ass, say offending things about your leaders, try to live like a "green" hippy dipshit. If you don't present a direct threat to their power and abililty to project that power to serve their interests, you can pretty much say and do whatever the fuck you want.

Why do you think the "Daily Show" does what is does, under the approval of non other than VIACOM for Chrissake! Or Micheal Moore getting backing from a major distributor.

In the setting of "Americanism", Power flows from Money. Whereas in past regimes, Power flowed from Power (i.e. - control).... Therefore in the American paradigm money is much more important than control, as long as your money making abilities are not disturbed........

That is the key to Corporatism

8033, sorry about trying to make light and make you laugh.

in all honesty, i agree wholeheartedly with the notion of a pervasive collective consciousness. that the Will of the People can be made into reality. i also don't think America is really set up for that to happen as much as we wish it was. i don't think things are going to change a whole lot without a major revolution, and i don't know that it will ever come. one thing is for sure though, the sort of thing that instigates a major change, on the level of a major revolution, is something like an evil dick stealing control of the country. it's the notion of rock bottom. a junkie isn't gonna quit until there's that day where they look at themself and go "my God, can it get any worse?" and the ways it can get worse are fewer and fewer. so honestly, in that sense, bush coming back for four more could be a positive thing, in that it could be wicked enough that folks might actually freak out and try and take back the government.

i dunno how likely any of that it. one thing i'm pretty sure of though, is that with the evil geniuses they have pulling the reins, the bush camp will win this election no matter which contingency plan they need to execute. and the sad thing is, yeah, i expect that it will get really shitty in the coming years, probably not *really* shitty, like, as shitty as the majority of the people on earth have it every day of their lives, but it'll get worse in a lot of ways. that's a part of why i moved back to chicago. to be home for it. to be close to the people that mean the most to me.

which country are you going to move to? there are certainly a handful of countries where the quality of life is as good or better than we have it here. there are always plusses and minuses, y'know. hot chicks, but cold weather. hot weather, but oppressive government. that kinda stuff. america is still a freakin great country, even if it's not ideal. and honestly, though there's things i would change about it if i were the sculptor, that doesn't actually mean a whole ton. there are few if any "things" in general that i wouldn't in some way change, given the ability. there are tons of things i would change, if i were really, truly compelled to do so. i don't worry as much about changing the world as i used to when i was younger, even 5 years ago, and certainly 10. there are aspects of myself that i can focus on if i really wanna make something better. y'know? i can worry about myself, about me being the best person i can, to try and live up to my own standards, and that's plenty challenge right there. so i've become less and less inclined to really actively or fervently want to foist my will on the larger structures.

wise man = change what you can, accept what you can't, recognize the difference between the two.

call it a cop-out, but i don't think that there's much of anything that anyone can do to prevent bush from coming back for 4 more. i really, REALLY hope i'm wrong. but i doubt that i am. they are too skilled at playing politics, at pushing the right buttons in the right people.

don't let it get you down too much, man. i can seriously, very fucking seriously relate. my go-to country has always been france. but honestly, if the world is gonna get more crazy, the only place i wanna be is here, at home.
