Hmm, perhaps after last night you'll have another change of heart, Tommydski? Ah, to be fair Leeds were doing well until Foxe was sent off, and 2-1 away to Burnley isn't so bad when you've lost a defender.
I'm not feeling very giddy about Wise myself but I'm confident Leeds won't get relegated. Thing is, I'm sure we wouldn't have been relegated under Blackwell either. Losing by the odd late goal every week under Blackwell was depressing; the results since he was sacked have been humiliating.
Wise is doing a lot of the right things though, and a lot of things that Blackwell didn't seem about to do, so I'm content to let him get on with it and see what happens.
(It's funny that the anti-Chelsea songs have returned in force since Wise took over. Best I've heard so far is 'Dennis Wise's Barmy Army - WE HATE CHELSEA! - Dennis Wise's Barmy Army - WE HATE CHELSEA!')
The squad ought to settle down now the transfer window is closed - at least until it all goes nuts again in January - although Leeds are still giving trials to everyone that turns up at Thorp Arch. Latest is a Trininad and Tobago international (sent off against Sweden in the World Cup) who, before playing in the US MSL, did the rounds of three or four teams in the Irish League. He seems to have been with Shelbourne for one day. I'm not sure which is more depressing, what that says about the standard of the MSL or the standard of Leeds United.
In proper, old fashioned football - I think it was the West Riding Cup - last night gave us
Halifax Town 14 Pontefract Collieries 3. What I like best is that even in conceding fourteen, Pontefract were good enough to get three at the other end.
