Stuart Hall can say what he likes, but Henri Camara is quality. Every season he scores at least one or two jaw-dropping goals.

Pity they lost Bullard to Fulham. I can't really see how he thought that was much of an improvement.

Not for Celtic he didn't.

True enough, but he was in and out of the side a bit there, and never really settled. Still 8 goals in 18 appearances isn't all bad. He did worse at Southampton. I remember him scoring some good goals for Wolves when he was there, and he's already had some excellent ones for Wigan this season.

Champions League? I can take it or leave it. Celtic v Manchester United was in the background most of this evening while I did other things. But then: the last twenty minutes!

Highlights were: the superb freekick that won it. Louis Saha thinking he was offside and stopping on the penalty spot ('amateurish', said Pat Nevin on Radio Five). Celtic managing to have about sixteen players booked over that one penalty, and taking the piss about retreating at freekicks; normally I would frown on this sort of thing, but not when it winds Gary Neville up. The penalty save; so, so good.

My favourite bit? When the fourth official couldn't work the numbers board so Trafford could make their double substitution. First, Rio Ferdinand came to the side of the pitch and yelled at him. Then Gary Neville remembered that he is captain, not Ferdinand, so came over and yelled at him more forcefully. Then Alex Ferguson remembered that he was manager, and told Ferdinand and Neville to piss off.

You know it's not going their way when Gary Neville runs half the pitch to get John O'Shea on the field a bit quicker. Ah, the Trafford tantrum. Always such a beautiful sight.

(Leeds United update: still rubbish.)

November 11th: Nice 0 - 0 Sochaux
November 18th: St Etienne 2 - 1 Nice (unlucky)

Agent202, don't show up now. Otherwise, I will have to kill you  :P

On Friday, Garibaldi FC was leading 2 - 1 against the leader of the league after 65 minutes but the game had to be stopped for security reasons because of a thunderstorm  The federation will decide to replay the game (99% of chances) or to validate the result.

Here are our results so far:
Garibaldi FC 1 - 4 Nice Est
AS Borriglione 2 - 4 Garibaldi FC
Garibaldi FC 0 - 5 OS Monaco
Garibaldi FC 1 - 2 FC La Plana
ES Conque 0 - 2 Garibaldi FC

I was just tuning my radio to Radio Leeds to catch the commentary on tonight's game. It can be a bit difficult to find the right part of the dial, and at first I tuned on past the strains of 'It's Getting Better' by Shed Seven. Then, I began to think like a local radio producer, and tuned back to it. True enough, it was the bed for a montage of clips from Leeds' recent games.

Sigh.

I'm going to do one of my trademark changes of heart regarding Leeds manager Dennis Wise. I think he's the right man to pull us through this nonsense. Just as Ken Bates kicked out the shysters from the boardroom and straightened our financial situation, Wise is gradually creating a similar turnabout on the ptich.

I gather he has placed enormous amount of emphasis on fitness and kicked out everyone who can't hack it. Hence Butler, Sullivan and most likely Kelly's exit. The change isn't going to be immediate, in fact I can see another loss at Burnley this evening, but by January we are going to have a team capable of fighting for a place in the play-offs.

It is difficult to keep track of who is actually playing for Leeds any given week though. There seems to be a consant flux of loan signings that are quite difficult to keep track of.

Hmm, perhaps after last night you'll have another change of heart, Tommydski? Ah, to be fair Leeds were doing well until Foxe was sent off, and 2-1 away to Burnley isn't so bad when you've lost a defender.

I'm not feeling very giddy about Wise myself but I'm confident Leeds won't get relegated. Thing is, I'm sure we wouldn't have been relegated under Blackwell either. Losing by the odd late goal every week under Blackwell was depressing; the results since he was sacked have been humiliating.

Wise is doing a lot of the right things though, and a lot of things that Blackwell didn't seem about to do, so I'm content to let him get on with it and see what happens.

(It's funny that the anti-Chelsea songs have returned in force since Wise took over. Best I've heard so far is 'Dennis Wise's Barmy Army - WE HATE CHELSEA! - Dennis Wise's Barmy Army - WE HATE CHELSEA!')

The squad ought to settle down now the transfer window is closed - at least until it all goes nuts again in January - although Leeds are still giving trials to everyone that turns up at Thorp Arch. Latest is a Trininad and Tobago international (sent off against Sweden in the World Cup) who, before playing in the US MSL, did the rounds of three or four teams in the Irish League. He seems to have been with Shelbourne for one day. I'm not sure which is more depressing, what that says about the standard of the MSL or the standard of Leeds United.

In proper, old fashioned football - I think it was the West Riding Cup - last night gave us Halifax Town 14 Pontefract Collieries 3. What I like best is that even in conceding fourteen, Pontefract were good enough to get three at the other end.
