1965 Traynor YBA-1 problems

It's one of the first series with the tube rectifier. I bought it cheap from a guy because it is really really bright, and makes a high pitched buzz/warble whenever its turned up to any giggin level of volume. It sounds like a speaker is breaking, but it does the same thing in every cab. In the "bass" channel I it isn't as bad, only when its turned up really high, but in the "guitar" channel II it is brutal when turned up anything passed 2 or 3.
When I got the amp there was additional wiring done with 24 gauge wire, which I swapped out for 14 gauge stranded, but I didn't want to out and out change the circuit. It appears someone has done a high gain mod to the preamp, as well they took one of the cap cans out of the circuit, and installed one big can where I'm assuming the other one used to be, however the big can has two caps in it from what I can tell? I'm not sure, I'm confused as to the changes that have been made. I'm going to go over teh schematic.

if anyone has any chassis pictures of their first-line bassmasters that I could look at, that would be fantastic.

3 hours later and a couple stupid mistakes on my part and I have this thing rewired back to stock ... I go to power it up to test it out, and I notice one of the preamp tubes isn't lighting up .. I swap the tubes.. bad tube *arg* although I'm sure I tested it in the past with good tubes.
anyhow... now I just have to wait until tomorrow morning when my roomates wake up.
