there is a male flaw - when trying to reconcile tremendous beauty with the concept of masculinity, men's mental harddrives crash and burn. This is most certainly the case with JB.

I listened to that first full length on headphones and almost felt dirty because his voice was tremendous, like a siren. The songs were exceptional. Certainly not my reflex taste in music, but I kept listening and discovered a real talent. Maybe I listen to this where other folks listen to opera or musicals or what have you.

It was really stupid when he walked into the river with his boots on.

The second release (2-Disc) can be boiled down into an incredibly poignant
one disc display of incredible songwriting talent, frozen as potential.

Try it again.

Not Crap. Although I'm not much of one for his earlier works like "Grace". "Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk" really got me though. Even though it isn't a tremendous album in it's entirity... you have to appreciate it for what it is. There are some real gems on there... especially disc 2. "Jewel Box" and "Satisfied Mind" are the best songs that man ever belted out. The latter being the finest display of soul ever to seethe from a white man. Splendid indeed.
I could have been a contender...

Jeff Buckley´s music is just exceptional. I love "Grace" and i love "Sketches...". I don´t know too many people being into his stuff, because they have a hard time liking his stuff because it´s so un-indie.
In my opinion this is just perfect music. A good balance between musicianship, great songwriting and atmosphere.

Listening to "dream brother" is just pure pleasure for me.

Full on NOT CRAP
It´s such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I have never dug deep into his records but I did get to see and hear Gods and Monsters, the thing he had with Gary Lucas. A band I was in played right after them on the air in the studio of WFMU many years ago. Their set was incredible and his voice was beautiful and their Zeppelin-isms were top notch. It was a real unexpected treat. It was also a very hard act to follow.
