I don't really know how it all works yet, but there's some music on it.
I like the Winter Sun one. And another friend of Pete Dale's....
Thank you Johnnyshape! Pete Dale is in my eyes a great bloke. His band used to stay at my place in Boro in the early nineties as my housemate's band (Golden Starlet / International Strike Force) were on Slampt Records, and later his band Red Monkey - who were awesome - came and played a benefit gig I helped organise in London for Reclaim The Streets. Pete is a good bloke. Check out his new band, Chronicity.
I've avoided myspace for a long time, but within the last week I've talked to people who I haven't come into contact with for ages, and people have heard my scruffy demos. I think it's alright, myself.
I travelled up with Lords and Bilge Pump for their gig in Sunderland a few months ago. Noone is entirely sure how it happened, as we didn't seem to be taking drinks too rapidly, but by the time Lords played the lot of us was blasted (later, back in Leeds, Phil from Lords accidentally left his amp outside and had it taken by the binmen, and I woke up with a pair of shorts that were not mine). I remember lurching around in an approximation of 'dancing', and Pete Dale standing on a speaker and screaming.
I have high regard for Mr Dale, not least because he has continued to give me the time of day when I've seen him, even as I have grown from a drunk and obnoxious sixteen year old in Manchester to a drunk and obnoxious twenty-six year old in Leeds. As well as Red Monkey, Milky Wimpshake count as a terrific group. You should also check out Sophie from Chronicity's 'other' band, Sailors. They're good, and due to join Lords by releasing on Gringo Records next year.
I was a big fan of Golden Starlet/ISF, too. 'Bryan Robson's Red and White Army' is one of the best football songs I ever heard; see also 'Jamie, Jamie Pollock'. My former housemate was burgled while out watching Golden Starlet; another friend of mine drove them on tour and taught them filthy songs.
It's a small world. I haven't had a chance to listen to your songs yet Chapter Two but I will, I will.
Twenty-four hours a week, seven days a month

954tonight we had a new bartender at our local corner haunt during lunch hour. she was quite young and seemed overwhelmed by her duties. her name is valerie. she makes good eye contact. good eye contact is the key to making money as a female bartender.
kudos to valerie.

I've done it before, but this time might be difficult, time-wise.
Update, for those of you who care (and to kick Faiz in the ass to finish his!):
I finished it this weekend, and am "sweetening" it (by actually giving the songs titles, etc.) but it is essentially done.
I am actually pretty happy with this one.

957I'd love to hear it, burun.

958I'm thinking of doing the 'solo album in a weekend' thing early next year. It's a tall order. You get Friday evening to set up, and then you have to write, record and mix ten tracks in two days. Preparation and keeping things short is very important.
A friend of mine wildly more talented than me at songwriting, performing and recording did this, and I still listen to it.

959A weekend? Jeez. I don't think I could suspend my inner critic enough for that!
Eventually I will let people hear this one (the stuff on Myspace is partly from last year's effort) but I just don't know when. Depends on how much I cringe when I play it in a week or so.

960I was just thinking "making an album in a month? making an album in a weekend? No way"
when it dawned on me I made an album earlier this yr in an evening, I had sort of forgotten about that, an improv thing, but still...I should really do something about putting that out. Its pretty decent.
