Not for Celtic he didn't.

True enough, but he was in and out of the side a bit there, and never really settled. Still 8 goals in 18 appearances isn't all bad. He did worse at Southampton. I remember him scoring some good goals for Wolves when he was there, and he's already had some excellent ones for Wigan this season.

Admittedly, he is scoring well, but in Scotland we had trouble taking to his gold boots and diamond earings. We like our superstars to have a bit of substance. Oh! and he played for Celtic, that might be another reason.

The Celtic v Man U. game was a great result. Man U played some great football but ultimately couldn't break down a stoic Celtic defence. Boruc didn't really have a save to make. The game was won by two great pieces of footballing skill, a great penalty save and an unstoppable freekick from Nakamura. The freekick award was wrong, but never-the-less this happens in every match.

I was surprised that Saha played against Chelsea on Sunday, after that display.

November 25th: Nice 2 - 2 Sedan
December 2nd: Auxerre 0 - 0 Nice
December 9th: Nice 0 - 0 Nancy

Nice is 17th in the league, not a confortable position.
Next game will be Paris - Nice on Sunday December 17th.

The Garibaldi FC only played one game for my last update:
AS Turque de Nice 3 - 2 Garibaldi FC
The other game scheduled was postponed due to the rain and the match which had be interrupted by a thunderstorm after 65 minutes while we were leading against the leader of the league will be replayed. Fais chier!

Here are our results so far:
Garibaldi FC 1 - 4 Nice Est
AS Borriglione 2 - 4 Garibaldi FC
Garibaldi FC 0 - 5 OS Monaco
Garibaldi FC 1 - 2 FC La Plana
ES Conque 0 - 2 Garibaldi FC
Gazélec Cagnes 1 - 2 Garibaldi FC (interrupted after 65min, to be replayed)
AS Turque de Nice 3 - 2 Garibaldi FC

Here is our league table:
Pos--Name-----------------------Points---GP--W--D--L--Goal difference
1----OS MONACO----------------23-------7----5--1---1----+22
2----AS TURQUE DE NICE-------22-------7----5--0---2----+9
3----GAZELEC CAGNES---------20-------6----4--2---0----+20
4----FC LA PLANA----------------20-------7----4--1---2----+6
5----NICE EST SPORTS---------19--------7----4--0---3----+8
6----GARIBALDI FC--------------12-------6----2--0---4----(-6)
7----ES CONQUE-----------------6---------6----0--0---6----(-33)
8----AS BORRIGLIONE-----------5--------6----0--0---6----(-26) (didn't show at one game)

Victory is 4 points, Tie game 2 pts, defeat 1 point and if you don't show up 0 point.

Do Leeds fans still do that chant that just involves clapping something like the intro to "Oh My Golly" and then going (in a deep collective menacing voice) "LEEDS" once at the end? Always impressed me, that. Sparse, succint.

Whereas City fans go to the other end of the scale with "Niall Quinn's Disco Pants"

Old thread, hohum.

I support Newcastle United, we are what is known as a sleeping giant.

Ahh, the glory days..

I support them because my dad didn't let me support anyone else.

Here is our stadium, it holds over 50,000 people. It is normally full, most people think we have the best fans in the country, but i don't think we have.

This is where most of our team have been this year:

It's certainly one of the oddest looking stadiums in the country. Everytime I see it I'm struck by how... odd... it looks. I can recall seeing a photo of one of the old stands from outside, it looked like the side of a battleship and had 'NEWCASTLE UNITED' written all along it in lettering as high as the stand. I liked that. My mum's grandad took her to some games when she was little but she leans more towards Sunderland these days.

I'm glad you don't buy into the 'best fans in the country' thing. The people who travel to Portsmouth and the like for a midweek game are as commited as it gets, obviously, but I'm sure most of the 50,000 at St James Park are as fickle as anyone else. Certainly as gullible. It looked for a while as though Newcastle were going to 'do a Leeds' but it looks like they've warded that off. Bastards.

The situation at Leeds just gets more and more depressing. Ken Bates has now withdrawn cooperation with the Yorkshire Evening Post; he reckons Yorkshire Radio (run by the club from huts behind the East Stand) is a safer outlet for his communications. The players being talked about as arriving in January sound promising but there are two more games before then, and we will lose them both. One smile was had when I heard someone saying that, in a way, 'League One' sounds pretty cool. "Yeah man, we're in League One!" The fact that it's actually Division Three is best ignored.
