Red from the earlier period.

Discipline

The Great Deceiver as live choice.

They aren't as good without Bruford. Pat doesn't quite cut it on his own and drags the music down IMO.

The Great Deceiver. Basically the full Monty'd edition of USA. 4 cds of live shows by the last lineup. Oh yes. By turns stark, savage, beautiful, atonal, heroic, subtle. 1 bass, 1 drum kit, 1 violin, 1 guitar, maybe a coupla mellotrons - no waiting.

better RED than dead...

I like a few songs on Red, but some of those slow songs are just terrible. It pretty much has 2 extraordinary songs. Whetton sings like crap. I really do like UK a lot though... I'll pass on Asia, though.

I think their first decent record is Lizard. In the Court is not great (hippies love it) and In the Wake is so-so.

King Crimson are severely overrated. It seems a lot of folks in the avant/RIO scene feel the same way. When I read some of these interviews I sighed with relief that someone else saw through the KC BS.
