"Goin' faster than a rollercoaster..." what a perfect phrase! It conjures a careening, giddy, somewhat frightening experience, under the guise of "going faster." Perfect!
And it isn't an experiential reference! The protagonist recognizes this quality and longs for it! He says it will "surely come my way." Buddy Holly has brought us into the mind of a young man pining after a woman, all the while expressing the mad sensations he hopes to experience when he finally gets her, as he is sure he will!
Buddy Holly, you were an ordinary guy who played cool songs with his buddies! I admire you!
Plus I saw a documentary once and they had this chick talking and she said his cock was as thick around as a can of coke and twice as long.
Crazy.

15When I was 8 years old I told my parents that when I got to heaven I wanted to meet Buddy Holly. Him and my great great uncle.
When I drove through Texas some years ago I made a completely out of the way venture to Lubbock just so I could go to the Buddy Holly museum.
Didn't he get married after knowing that gal for a few days?
NOT CRAP.

Apparently his last words on the plane were "Okay now, let's see who's the real big bopper..."

17Are among my favorite recordings. They're very no-frills while still being interesting and well recorded.

19Anyone have insight into the ridiculous prices for his records?
Is it the Coral label, are good copies hard to come by, or is this price gouging just a Northern California phenomenon?
Buddy Holly is obviously NC.

What kind of prices are you seeing?
Off the cuff I'd guess that most copies of the 45s are trashed (I know most that I come across are) and the high prices are for copies in good shape. Plus I think there are styrene- vs vinyl-pressing issues. As for the LPs, its a multiple pressing issue, along with mono vs fake-stereo, the mono being favorable and also tough to find in good shape.
Hopefully this year I can put together the Buddy Holly tribute band I've wanted to have for years.
