there was a guy in my class in school who parents had moved here from china, and spoke only mandarin. they wanted their kids to fit in so when he was born they decided to call him paddy. paddy chung. i loved the dichotomy, but never joked about it cos i saw him knock some guys block off for suggesting it was a ridiculous combo.
also my name isn't especially funny but hearing foreigners pronounce it is. its spelled cathal, but the 't' is silent and the 'hal' at the end is pronounced 'hull'. also in a smilar boat are irish called 'ruadhan' (ROO-AWN) eimear (EEE-MER) etc.

How old is he? The Tudor I knew was probably just a little over 30. His parents must have been having a laugh.
He's about 23/24, and he's in the SAS! (As well as working alongside me). Strange.

I knew an Eimear, and could pronounce it after she told me to, but THANK YOU for clarifying how to pronounce Cathal.
Now I will never misname the guy from Fatima Mansions.

Special Air Service.
They are hard fuckers. Plus, the guy won't tell me where in the world he goes when he goes on these placements, other than "abroad". I happen to know he has used one of the longest range sniper rifles in the world though.
Incidentally, regarding Muse, Matt Bellamy is a cunt.
