fugazi got better from album to album.
'end hits' and 'the argument' are incredible records.
Nirvana or Fugazi
53I actually made the Fugazi one a while ago for my brother to refer to when buying Fugazi albums. I just threw together the Nirvana one in 5 minutes for this thread.

I think you need to read Edward Tufte
Nirvana or Fugazi
55I picked Nirvana, but it was really hard for me to answer. Nirvana survived the mass exodus from CD to ipod. Fugazi did not.
It's an apples and oranges argument, but not because the bands had different sounds, messages and audiences. One burned out while the other faded away. Alot of these answers would be completely different if Cobain had stuck around to deal with his expectations.

56Fugazi!!! lol at this choice? despite Nirvana being 'Famous' in a way most other bands are not, they did fuck all for music, however, Fugazi did a lot
That rhymes so it must be true D:
Haha, that's like, some of the dumbest shit i have ever heard.
Listen to more albums tbh. Fugazi can be a tough band to get into, for a lot of people, but I find it only takes a few known good songs and you will be on your way, Fugazi, if anything, are certainly not overated.
I still like Nirvana every now and then, and sure It got some people into better music then they might have without finding them. But that's because it got mainstream/easily approachable. Not because of the bands sound, ideas, quality as much. I just got sick of the sameyness of it, not because it only sounds the same, because it was exactly the same shit over and over and over and over and over, apart from bleach, bleach was the shit, love the energy of that album + the sound.
I can easily imagine Nirvana never existing and there not being any difference in the music scene, without Fugazi I can't D:

57Did my first stagedive at a Fugazi show so I have some fond memories and yet nowadays I regard Ians bleeting voice as unlistenable. Its just downright annoying and didn't stand the test of time. Still like Kurts crooning though.

58Fugazi seemed to have a goal and a well thought out business plan. I would bet that if they would have gone the route that Nirvana took, they would have been more successful.
Based on live performances I've seen by both bands, Nirvana were far more insane and sketchy. Since Nirvana had a few shiny gems amongst a lot of dreck, and Fugazi were more like coal miners, I can't vote.

59Fugazi - Red Medicine - Do You Like Me was the first song I heard, just loved that trashy intro, then the Bed For Scraping straight after, awesome rhythms and melodies.
Nirvana or Fugazi
60Never much liked Fugazi.
Nirvana: Bleach - Good!
Nevermind - Slick as hell...but still good! (least favorite though)
In Utero - Except for like...Pennyroyal Tea...pretty damn good!
Let's not forget Incesticide...also good!
Fugazi just never did it for me.
