David Lynch s Inland Empire

just wondering what people were thinking of Inland Empire

I saw it last night and for three hours i was spinning between amazing beauty, and some of the most frightening moments i've had at the movies.

Laura Dern gives one of the best performances i've ever seen.

If you like David Lynch (ahem, film) you should really try to see this picture. I think it's only playing in NYC and LA. Big screen? yes. There was a sign up at the AMC in NY that your 10th viewing was free. No one had made it there yet, but someone had already seen it 6 times...

it's all on digital, so the sunlight scenes are pretty crummy looking... but the interiors (dark) scenes are really distorted and look really great.

This movie will be the first film I have seen in a theater for two and a half years.

I've been looking forward to it for a while now.

They refused to hire people who were in the Projectionist's union. I can't support that kind of behavior.

Are you sure the other theaters in town are using union projectionists? I was under the impression (perhaps mistaken) that most theater chains didn't use union projectionists anymore.

Some theaters hire them. They are not all exclusively PU projectionists. The way the IFC went about it was particularly nasty, firing those who tried to join the union and threatening those who remained. Not cool.

Unfortunately I would imagine this is not too uncommon.
