Gadget: The iPhone

If you want to truly be free, then run Debian or another true *nix. Otherwise, pick the platform that helps you be most efficient and accept its constraints.

As for the iPhone, it looks nice, but with the usual waffles--1st gen Apple (no more "Computer" in the name anymore) product, and bound-to-happen potential annoyances. Plus, I don't live off my phone yet. As a smartphone, it's pretty cool. Just the voicemail navigation system alone is elegant enough to make me want one.

I also be interested in seeing what it's like to develop for this platform's browser as opposed to the current generation of craptastic interfaces.

Yes, that includes Opera.

what's the fucking point. majority of ipod users are big enough losers already as it is. I see them walk into restraunts, coffeshops, and order things with their headphones in. let alone talk to people on the phone at the same time. do they realize how lame it really is? "what!? I can't hear you over my ipod, speak louder" I wouldn't doubt you can listen to music the same time your talking to someone. I don't think I will ever purchase an ipod. apples goal is eliminate common human interaction by creating one iproduct at a time. I just don't see the need in this sort of thing.

CRAP.

do ipod users recognize eachother like motorcycle owners do with the wave. do you walk pass eachother, with a friendly gesture stick out two, or four fingers in a wave like motion just above your knee? I guess you'd be too busy walking with your head down to know.
