My mom joined one of those cd/cassette clubs when I was young and asked if I wanted anything. I had heard of Sting on the Grammy's or something, and I figured the name sounded tough enough. After listening to it once, I ended up breaking it open and stretching the tape along the street to see how long the tape actually was.

I think this is when I was bad off on Ace of Bass, which would've made me about 8 years old or so.

This thread has made me laugh out loud several times. Thanks!

I have a copy of "Youth' by Matisyahu that I was planning to destroy, however I am please to announce that bidding on eBay for said article is currently going strong at £1.45. I wish I had a more interesting story than that.

Most of my unwanted CDs go to Oxfam. The only thing I can think of that I have destroyed in a fit of rage was a copy of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

There used to be an add on TV here back in the late seventies, ( i was probably 6 or 7) something about a "chart busting record".
It was some kind of various artists compilation, and in said add records where smashing all over the place as the announcer told you about all the "smashing artists" that the record contained.

My parents discovered me in the yard a few days later in the middle of destroying there entire record collection.
I remember it being a giant stack, probably a couple hundred records that i sent flying into the cement while trying to re-create the same cool "chart busting-ness" that i saw on TV a few days earlier...

Regret, fuck yeah... years later i got given the remains of that collection, and there was some really cool shit in there, I don't want to know what i sent to record heaven.

Must've been heartbreaking for them, fuck if i had a kid and he did that to me...

i also scratched the song "beth" from my copy of destroyer by kiss, enough so the needle would scratch on through to the next track.
i just couldn't stand getting hit with that song during the record.
i was pretty young then to.

i have since bought another copy and beth remains intact, although now as an adult i get up and lift the needle across to the next track.
