Bass guitar strings are usually around three times the price of regular guitar strings, why?
I'm looking for the genuine answer, but any bassist jokes are also welcome!

So just because I'm careful with my strings I should pay more? Also, most bassists I know of nowadays change their strings like twice a month or more if they can afford to.
Being a poor student I have decided to like the sound of dead strings. The current set on my Ric has been on there for almost a year now.
