Movie: Closer
13Unfortunately, people dont talk like that.
If they did I think I would enjoy relationships more.

14This is the type of movie where if a friend of mine said they like it, I would literally lose a little respect for them as a person. Not respect for their tastes, respect for them as a whole person.

15I feel the same way about dub music.

Why? I'm not knocking your opinion, just curious. Closer is an ultimately unpleasant, vicious view of ultimately unpleasant, vicious relationships, but it is upfront about its intention to be so. And the script does have some excellent lines (the heart as a fist wrapped in blood, as noted above, being one that has stuck in my head).
Whilst it is jaundiced and angry, even bitter, as a play (which it essentially remains, even on camera) about selfishness and associated destruction it is effective. I don't care if people do not talk as the characters do - many of my favourite films have very unrealistic dialogue.
(Although, imagine if we did all go around speaking like Bogart and Bacall in The Big Sleep... Conversation would be a glorious merry-go-round of perverse flirtation with illicit allusions to horse racing.)
It's not a film that I could say that I liked, but for what it is I think it is well put together.
