by jefferson airplane.
i think it rules.
one long verse, and then one short chorus. just listening to it build up. grace slick (who i generally hate) belt out the lyrics.
the childish psychedelia of it. the whole song based on "alice in wonderland." hilarious. i had a dream about this song the other day. it was weird.
you can give it a listen and have a chuckle, here.
song: white rabbit.
2The version by the band Great Society (pre Airplane) is cooler, because Darby Slick plays english horn throughout it. And it's a live recording. There's other cool stuff on that record for the drug addled...
song: white rabbit.
3Definitely NOT CRAP. Bass is killer, guitar is creeping creepyness, lyrics are at least decent for 60's psychedelica standards, and drums are boss too. One of my favorite songs to cover, I love the build. You can do it OG style, or tone it down a bit, but my preference is to crush the mothafuckas with it, heavy as fuck doom style like old Neurosis or something. Did I mention I like this song? Grace Slick still ain't too bad looking for a really old broad.
song: white rabbit.
7I like how it feels "epic" but is actually a short song. It leaves you wanting more.
song: white rabbit.
8The bassist ties this like t-shirt or cloth or something around the neck of the bass to completely mute the strings, and he just digs in really hard to get that cool sound. This is a great song. Not Crap.
