actually some of the early monster magnet stuff, not so much 'tab' but 'spine of god' and the early singles had some really freaky shit going on. kind of scary in a good way

I got this and all I kept doing was trying to debunk it all. I still have it, because it's neat and it could be cool for a sample or two down the road, but I just felt like they were making it all up... or that it was a hoax of some kind. I'm going to explore it again, though.

When it comes to black metal, I'd say Inquisition fits much better under the terrifying/hilarious category.

35I don't think I can listen to a Tiny Tim song, while alone, without suffering illusions of an effeminate giant-man emerging from a closet and dragging me to a field of tulips to calmly commit some ghastly horrors.
If that falsetto doesn't mean pedophile then nothing does.
I'm making myself shiver.

37I'm a huge Whitehouse/Sutcliffe Jugend/Coil/Current 93/'scary stuff' fan. However, you have to adapt the mindset yourself to get 'scared'. SJ don't 'scare' me, they make me feel...'scary' to 'others'...sort of...except I'm not actually thinking about 'others'...uh...
Ah well, talking about music is difficult. You probably all know what I mean.
The scariest recordings I have ever heard are probably those snakebite church revival things Glenn W. Turner and another friend of mine have. Or the recordings of that odd Japanese death cult thing...you know, where they had that sarin gas in the subway deal...Or the audio from some of those death scene videos (when they use the original footage audio, anyway)...Or Bush Jr. speeches...Or the Jonestown recordings...Or Rural Midwest gospel recordings...
etc.

38Pink Floyd has been known to scare girls in cars since high school.
The noise breaks on "Echoes" and "Atom Heart Mother."
"Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" freaks out our bass player.

40i'll second "hamburger lady."
skinny puppy was one of my standard 'toss this in the cassette player before i fall asleep' bands, so they don't really bother me.
"frankie teardrop" by suicide creeps me out.
some of george crumb's music is mighty odd.
lou reed's berlin album - i can't get all the way through it. not scary so much as i'm scared that i'm going to suddenly be time-machined back into my suicidal 15 year old self...
a couple songs that i've already mentioned that still disturb me are taco's "puttin on the ritz" & rockwell's "somebody's watching me" - the first one sounds like a bunch of crazy thin models goosestepping & blow-verdosing in dachau; the second one has a legitimately creepy video & the lyrics are totally written by the guy's dad so it sound like someone else's paranoia coming out of this 20 year old kid's mouth... weird shit.
