I think it's not so much his asshole aspects than his lack-of-effort aspects. Didn't he basically not apply himself at all during this last Oakland season? That's the sort of thing that would make me shy away from a guy like Moss.

The Packers don't need an all-world receiver anyway. If they aquire someone as equally solid as Driver, that person will have big-play ability with Favre delivering the passes to him. Jennings will have a breakout year as well, and then the receiving corps will be solid.

They need a tight end the most, though. The red zone offense was shit because Bubba Franks suddenly morphed into, i dunno, a lineman with shitty hands or something.

Exactly. I think Moss would be too high of a price tag when its a toss-up as to whether he'd even try to play well or not. They've got Driver, and I think you're right about Jennings, he's in position to do some great things. Granted, this is if they all stay healthy.

Ditto on the "WTF Bubba?".

Randy Moss is a phenomenal and undeniable talent. I've always viewed his rabble-rousing and occasional off-the-cuff, stream-of-consciousness ranting as relatively innocent. Throwing Moss into the mix in Green Bay would create a lot of intrigue, and I actually think it would (literally) open up space on the field for some of the young Pack receivers to grow.

Favre played w/ a broken thumb, he aint no punk.

Broken thumb, bruised ankle, fucked up knee, the odd concussion here and there...

No matter when Favre retires, the team's gonna take a backward step for a year or two while Rodgers works his shit out. Rodgers is only gonna be in his third year next year. Romo didn't start until his fourth year, and he was just fine this year...until the playoffs, but you get my drift. Steve Young? backup for years to Montana.

These things are not set in stone, these "your next quarterback needs to start playing at such-and-such time" rules. I'm not worried.

Favre is fun to watch & I've had that pleasure many many times. Sadly, the first record Favre'll break next season will be the all-time interception mark. I'm just saying the instant gratification of watching Favre for yet another year (and not making a run into the playoffs) may fuck up the Pack's shot at setting themselves up for another great QB. Which is all just fine by me, as I'm a Bear's fan.

::ahem::

Grossman is fun to watch too. He is funny at quarterbacking!

Bears are the Sufjan Stevens of the NFL.

The Bears are nowhere NEAR as awful as Sufjan Stevens.

Jeff garcia, Plummer and David Carr sound like they are/going to be available for work.

What do you Bears fans think about that?

Poor Rex-he just not a winner.
It looked like he was throwing pop-flies at baseball practice during the Super Bowl. I'm not one to talk on interceptions-our boy Brett has thrown a couple in the past if i remember correctly

See, that's the problem...Rex is a winner. Somehow. I'm not sure if his record is so good as a starter because he's always had such good defense & recently, special teams or if he's actually helped the team win. I do know that he committed something on the order of 22 turnovers over the course of the Bears' last 14 games. He stayed healthy this year & was the first Bears QB to actually finish a season in a damn long time (i think 2000, if I'm not mistaken). So there's that. Really, that in & of itself warrants him being back next year in this town.

I don't know about Garcia, Carr or Plummer coming in, but the competition sure couldn't hurt. If the Bears could land a QB that was substantially better than Grossman, I'd be all for it...I'm just not sure that any of those three are.

Garcia really impressed me in the second half of the season, and although he can be a loose cannon, Plummer is the kind of iconoclastic balls-out competitor that I think could be a real sensation in Chicago. I find Carr to be a bore; I don't trust him.

But anybody'd be better than another year of Rex. As a Saints fan, however, I'm hoping that the Bears stick with him.
