There's a lot of great music sprinkled over this (ugh) "rock opera."
But in the end it is responsible for inducting "rock opera" into the American lexicon.
CRAP
or
NOT CRAP?

2Do you really want me to answer this?
Actually, there are a few things on this record I can stomach--that "listenin' to you, I hear the music" stuff at the end of "We're Not Gonna Take It" is pretty good. It's everything after it (especially Who's Next) that I totally despise.
As rock operas go, I'll take either SF Sorrow or Bat Out of Hell. Or Murray Head doing Judas. Not that I'm in the market much for rock operas, mind you.

5The record is crap. Played live between 1969 and 1971, it's one of the highest points in rock music. Sparks live at Tanglewood is the performance to end all performances. But the album itself is poor. Very poor.

7I like almost everything else by the Who a little better, but still get's a spin once in awhile.
