Chicago Cop Poses As Pizza Driver, Kills Robber

"The police are not here to create disorder, they are here to preserve disorder."- Richard J. Daley

I wonder if some cop fucked up big time and got relegated to shit duty, i.e. impersonating a pizza delivery man undercover. This guy has something to prove so he goes out to bag himself a criminal. Thinks hes fuckin' Judge Dread. Thats how the most heinous police fuck-ups occur. They feel like they have something to prove. Its not enough to carry a gun, they have to prove they can use it.

I can't even bel;ieve there is crime in Chicago anymore with all the blinking fucking spy cameras around. But, those cameras did catch those one kids rolling a blunt, so I guess its worth the $.

I'm sorry, but people who can't imagine a good cop deserve to live in a Police State as much as the people who can't imagine a bad cop. Trust that they are out there, jcamanei- you shouldn't need to meet one to confirm that. In fact most law-abiding people rarely meeat good cops or bad cops. Cops are working people, and it's an ugly job. Some of their bosses encourage law breaking, others don't. Some cops are born assholes who go into that profession to be assholes above the law, and some take it because it pays pretty good and you can retire early. Some cops are so good at their jobs ( for the sake of all of us ) that you should admire them more than just about any other authority figure in society.

You don't know what I can or can't imagine. In fact, I know there are good cops out there. Otherwise, this world would be more of a shithole.

Why is it so hard for you to accept that there are people out there that based on their personal experiences have every reason to believe that most cops are assholes.

I guess inner city kids are not law-abiding people.

I don't buy the 'most' adjective. Here's my stance: the job of 'cop' is an adversarial job by design, before the job is even populated by people with normal human foibles. If most cops are 'good' people ( which is what I think ), just the act of putting on that badge and gun convicts them in the eyes of many in society, just like black skin convicts many.

It's true, I don't know your personal experiences. If you had a cop abuse his power and knock you around, plant drugs on you, I can see where that would skew your perceptions. But if your personal experiences were more along the line of "you were acting up in some bar or at some party and some Chicago cop came down really hard on you to get you to stop it", relax a little, that is a lesson you learn about Chicago cops. You'll have to tell your stories if you want me to sympathize with your opinion of cops.

Me, as an 18 year resident, I've rarely had to interact with cops, period ( yes, I'm white ), and out of those times, one cop was borderline dickhead with me, but hardly in breach of any professional ethics.

I guess inner city kids are not law-abiding people.

They neither are nor aren't, just like all cops aren't or are anything. Are inner city kids, because of their environment ( sometimes an environment they contribute to, sometimes not ), more likely to be in the proximity of street level crime, and therefore, more at risk of confrontations with the police? Yes, certainly.

the fact someone even considers becoming cop makes them supremely suspect in general.
Anyone 'cool' would never even consider such a thing, it would be laughable to anyone 'cool'.
Having said that, of course they aren't all total jerks to everyone they encounter.
From my dealings with them in this city I'd say 98% of the time they are the jerks. That 2%, they were nice.
