I think he's underappreciated for sure. At least outside of certain circles.
Great Shannon vocal performances include: Bum in the Alley (love that weird vocal loop), Hitting the Wall (incredible), The Woman Inside (bizarre), The Warden (genuinely menacing and hilarious), Organized Meat (the phrasing in this song really gets me), Cabin Man ( This entire song was mind blowing perfection to me the first time I heard it).
Actually a vast majority of the Cows catalogue is by far some of the most inventive and interesting vocals in punk for my tastes. A lot of people refer to Shannon's "schtick", but I never saw it as such. Great lyrics too.
Shannon served me a beer on saturday when I was at Grumpy's. I wish he would start up another project while he's in town.
From what I gather, there is a Tom Hazelmayer produced record with David Yow contributing a track or two and Shannon doing vocals for the other two tracks coming out sometime soon.
