Josephson c42h on snare
2Yes! I like it a lot. "A lot"? I remember when my English teacher told me to find something else to write whenever I got an urge to write "a lot." So what should I say when "a lot" doesn't have the power?
No creativity.
I like the mic if I want a bright sound. It doesn't have the wincing transient response that a good Altec 175 has on the snare, but I like it a lot.

3Greg,
Have you tried an e22s in this application? I posted this elsewhere but with no luck.

4Which one be be your first go to mic...... c42h or shure ksm141 for snare?

5I've used both the ksm 141 and the c42 about the same number of times. I get more low mids with the shure mic than the c42. More "whoomp" than "piff"
These are terms which I like to come up with while watching the movie X2.
The ksm141 is a bit more handy with the multiple patterns and attenuator. The c42 can get around any hi-hat stand or tom to get the good placement + it has the brightness I like.
You have to decide- ide - ide- ide

7I've used both the c42 and e22 on bottom snare and really like the e22. My new fav for bottom snare mic.
