It took me a long time to finally see how good Slint actually was. My first impression wasn't a positive one. I think you have to spend time with a record like "Spiderland" because it is not as immediate as say, the first song on an Explosions in the Sky record.

Which, if post-rock has shown us anything, the more immediately you start the song playing Sabbath riffs tuned up a step with another guitar going an octave higher as the drums and bass do the most basic, uninteresting shit you can think of...the more people will smoke pot before they come to your shows.

Hence why people choose Explosions over Do Make Say Think and Do Make Say Think over Godspeed.

I like For Carnation a lot. Picked up their record back a bits...good little moody piece of music.

Then you have to take a bit more time to realise Tweez and the EP are actually miles better than spiderland. Not that it is a bad record, I just always find it a step backwards.
