Do you guys use the dolby setting when recording on 4 track cassette, or does it sacrifice certain frequencies and would be better leaving it off? I'm thinking that keeping the heads clean and demagnetized should eliminate the need for dbx, just curious to know how people have approached this issue in the past.
Thanks in advance.

2No DNR for me, thank you. I like my hi end & I agree with you; keep your heads clean & de-magged & you should be fine.

3screw that stuff. the high frequency loss and weird-sounding low end are too big a sacrifice for the cleaned up noise. I rather like the noise, actually. Lo-fi can be a source of a good sound, and one that sounds more "real". The Dubbly noise reduced sound on a cassette 4tk was always lifeless, to me, in comparison.

Just getting that out the way.
But it'll sound better in dobly.
Seriously though, turn that shit off.
