'Ritz Dance'.

I was sat on the London Underground a couple of days ago and I had to literally choke back tears. I have no idea why, I can't really work out what the song is about beyond loss, regret, unrequited love etc. It's something about that drenching guitar riff that cuts to my core every time. For me this song was the culmination of Andy Cohen's pathetically drunk, old and embittered song-writing persona. I always imagined this being performed by a vegas style club-singer as the last song of the night in a deserted club with only the hardcore drunks propping up the bar. One can imagine him eyes clenched tight in his own personal reverie, microphone in one hand, gin and chesterfield in the other. Bowtie open and loose around his neck, this one's for all you pathetic bastards still out there and lord knows I'm one of them.

Dear thewelfareline:

If that is you in your user icon, you look like Emo Phillips. Nice work.

"I Want To Go To Sleep" by the Afghan Whigs always makes me sad. And tired, as I used to close my overnight radio show with it.

"Don't Make Plans This Friday" made me cry when I saw it played live. "Is She A Sign" made me tear up at the opening notes, once. I still don't know why.

Ocean Songs intensifies everything.
Hey. My name's Josh.
