Rather, I'm pissed about a general tendency among underground/indie/post-punk/whatever bands toward only playing western Europe. There are a lot of people out there in central and, god forbid, even eastern Europe who are into this shit and want to see good live acts.

As a wise man once said, "If you book them, they will come"

I remember someone making this argument once before on a messageboard about a band, I think it was someone like Jawbreaker or Descendents or something and the complaint was from a dude who lived in Croatia. Anyway, a member of the band (apparently) came on the board and posted this link to a page showing album sales across Europe, and they'd only sold 15 albums in Croatia...which made the point quite well.

Anyway, perhaps a bands popularity in a country has something to do with it's touring habits, I sure as shitting hell wouldn't get on a plane and slog around a country to play to 15 people one night, then pay out and loose all my cash for the rest of the trip. I'm in it for the money though.

Funny, I always thought American bands had that view of England. In the words of Hank Rollins (talking about England):

"The people are great and everything, but...you understand why Morrisey happens..."

"It's like, my meal: potatoes. Fuck. You."

Perhaps the language overlap helps give us the benefit of the doubt.

l'Usine, en 2001 was like 400 people in a room for 700 people: absolutely perfect!!!!!
