i'm an electrical engineer at Bose. i design/build/fix/destroy amplifiers for automotive audio applications.

in my spare time, i occasionally make blinky, LED-based circuits and sell/trade them. this is rare since i'm a slack bastard. but, it has provided a couple of meals and a tattoo.

occasionally, a little bit of cash is made through playing some of the rock, but the amount is usually offset by the bar bill.

I have been free lance sound recording for a few years now around Chicago. I have been pulling together gear and mics to open up my own studio soon. But when things are slow I can always find a few things to sell on Ebay.

im a cnc machinist, an atm repair man, and i work on disentigrators for the us government(they are huge machines made for destroying lots of top secret information really really quickly.

I'm a technical writer for a fairly large office equipment manufacturer. I work primarily with fax machines and printers. I'm ostensibly part of a small group of techs who do phone support for corporate clients who pay for "priority" status with my company, but I usually don't take tech support calls. I also do a bunch of other inane stuff, but mercifully most of it is just tech writing.

I've not had a 'real job' for quite some time.

This year I've been paid to photograph people and things, record voice-overs for industrial videos, design web sites and business cards, operate a video camera on field productions, and duplicate corporate videos and DVDs.

And I think I made about $40 this year playing shows with my 'rock' band.

I don't plan on ever kickin' it 9-to-5 again, but sometimes plans don't work.

I'm a 2nd year law student in NYC. I also work at an entertainment law firm here, but unfortunately it is for free.

I work in the tech. support division for Marantz - I troubleshoot any physical, functional, or perceived problems customers are having with our equipment. I try to work on recording projects as much as possible, and I am currently building a small home setup. Other than that, I like to play loud music and sleep occasionally.

I work as a usability engineer for Sprint, which isn't really cause for bragging because the usability of many of the Sprint things that customers interact with most isn't terrific. But we're working on it.

I get 15 days of vacation a year, and I use most of them for necessary visits to family in other parts of the country.

If my job wasn't so interesting, working 9-5+ would drive me crazy. But I work with great people and no day is like any other.

This year, I have spent about $2K recording and pressing my new album, and I've brought in about $200 playing out and selling CDs. Working for the man is a means to finance my fiscally absurd music "career."

As it stands, the only real downside is my geographic location (Overland Park, KS), which makes visiting other parts of the world expensive or time consuming, or both.

I am the technical supervisor for a very unique department within a very large university. Our department specializes solely in african american music and dance.

My job is primarily to prepare and oversee the setup and execution of our touring PA system for our three touring groups (a 20+ piece soul/funk/r&b group, a 80+ member Gospel choir and a dance company), supervise 6 audio techs, maintain the department's studio, provide sound for events in our building and maintain all the a/v equipment in the building.

My job is awesome on many levels and horrible on many other levels.
Horrible:
my department is an unorganized mess
i dont get paid enough for the shit i have to put up with
bureaucracy
I have to sometimes work 90 hour weeks
TERRIBLE communication
ungrateful co-workers

Awesome:
the guys that work for me are awesome
i get university benefits
14 paid vacation days
9 paid holidays
10 paid sick days
I also earn about 30-40 days of comp time in a year
Access to some cool gear and facilities

Believe it or not, the awesome stuff is not enough to make me not hate my job.

I have recording studio which is my #1 priority, and i hope to do it full time soon.

The paid time off is the big plus because it allows me to book sessions in my studio pretty much whenever i want to.

I have my job to allow me to support my studio and buy gear. I plan on quitting the day job in aboutquittings to do the studio full time, i can't wait to work for myself.

I recently started playing a rock band. This is an awesome experience for me... I haven't played in a band in over 7 years. We have made about $118 in the past 3 months that we have been together. We have spent about 10 times that.

I like to hang out with my wonderful girlfriend.

I am busy as fuck and I love it.
