bradley, i hope someday you get this all top seed final four that you desire. it has not happened yet but i hope this thing, i hope it happens for you.
for now we must settle on a form of competition whereby teams "compete" against one another by "playing" against one another. i hope a better system presents itself.

in all seriousness i know what you mean. by some odd turn my favorite professional football team undertook a similar post season to GMU. and for me the super bowl was actually the game where the steelers played the colts. at the end of that game i knew no game for the rest of the post season would involve as close a finish. also that i had just seen my favorite team beat the best remaining team in the playoffs. i think this is what you are experiencing. you think the best teams serendipitously had bad games and thus we are left with a final four of also-rans. i respect this position but i still feel GMU is due some credit for their last four games.

wow, that is odd how all the best participants lost. Those kind of "bracket busting" upsets don't happen every year in the NCAA tournament, except that they happen every year.

Upsets! In the NCAA tournament! Who would ever believe that they would keep happening year after year after year?

That's why they're always so unbelievable.

cervixFORaHEart wrote:if you don't already realize that division 1 ncaa basketball is the purest sport left in this world then....well, that explains why you're so pissy about not getting to see the "best participants" play in some kind of retarded thunderdome battle.

Wait a second...

walter? waltermalling?

Anyway, I will concede that hoping for a Duke-Gonzaga match up, which could have been a game for the ages, was stupid. God, J.J. Redick versus Adam Morrison. It's great that we have the inherent beauty of the NCAA tournament to protect us from that kind of crap. Instead, we can enjoy names-pulled-from-a-hat classics like the George Mason-UCLA barnburner.

Man, George Mason-UCLA pwns that Duke-Gonzaga game.

cervixforaheart, you may have the last word. Me, the retarded thunderdome battle wanter, retires for the evening.

My bracket got fucked up bad. I had a Duke-Gonzaga match-up. Then Gonzaga taking Florida.

[I] do not like the fact that George Mason has progressed this far in the tournament.

yes, uconn did have the best players money can buy.
Connecticut's operating expenses for men's basketball are roughly $1.9 million (about $100,000 per player), according to Department of Education statistics. George Mason's are $237,000 (about $20,000 per player).

and the patriots are short.

as for what ncaa basketball stands for, i'll take almost any answer that doesn't involve the word "atheleticism." i'm just tired of hearing that word.

keep your horses. keep your tapeworms (lsu). gimme some determination, courage, and attitude. that's a story anyone can appreciate.

brad, maybe you'll find a sympathetic ear in dr. austin.

pick the lesser of the above evils.
NCAA at the bottom, by far.

Gimme college sports anyday over professional sports. Collegiate athletics (for lack of a better term) is not pure as driven snow, but there's so much more spirit and less bullshit than pro sports.....ESPECIALLY the NFL....whew.....fuck pro football with a capital F.

Dudes, Uconn has looked like shit over the last month, Duke got beat in every way imaginable, and Memphis... jesus. I do not care to see a bunch of talented, "athletic" super men play sloppy uninspired basketball for 38 and a half minutes and then pull something out of their arses over the final mintue and a half to force another five minutes of viewer angst.

I am very excited to watch this final four. I cannot imagine what its going to be like if its down to the final minute of the NCAA Division I championship game and George Mason has a chance to win. Regardless of the year you do not beat Michigan State, North Carolina, and Uconn in the tournament by a fluke and Mason beat these teams by playing more complete games on both ends of the floor. This too, is no fluke.

The players at these top seeded basketball universities will make a lot of money dunking basketballs in the NBA. These George Mason's will not. What a cool thing to say I beat you Rudy Gay, Maurice Ager, Tyler Hansborough on national television by playing with my team for forty (five) minutes and not relying on "talent." This NCAA tournament is for these teams, the NBA is for the stars.
