You might like to check out this label which has made a career out of this kind of thing - I mean, take a look at this!

Some of it verges on cheese although the Beat at Cinecitta series (a little off beam for what you're after) contains some really slinky and stylish 60s funk/lounge cuts.

I haven't checked into its widespread availability, but Cinemaphonic: Electro Soul is pretty dangt sweet.
The songs are short, as the focus of the album is incidental music.

David Axelrod has some stuff that kind of sounds like this.
