It could be any animal, really.

Do you ever feel a sadness when you give a cat food? Especially when it's a little treat, like a bit of leftover haddock or something? I know it's nice to be able to give an animal food, but sometimes it makes me feel sad when I see its little jaws crunching away.

One of my cats, Chainsaw, has been a real jerk lately. He bugs me for food when he already has a full bowl of food. He does his stupid raspy meowing at me, so I follow him to see what he wants. He almost invariably leads me to a full food bowl, then just stands there looking at me. The litter box is clean, and he has water. I think he's just bugging me for kicks, the jerk.

My other cat, Boris, never pulls these types of pranks on me, but if you pet him at all, drool just pours out of his mouth.

In any case, feeding them is not sad! I have excellent cats and have just made an inane, long-winded post about them!

My cat considers it Not Sad.

The charm is in the childlike vision, and the simplicity of thought. Animals do that to me too. I get all introspective and wonder what's going on in that animal brain, like when my dog sits on his back legs (and tail) so he can bark just a little higher off the ground then just standing.

My ex-gf's cat, who is part Maine Coon, knows how to open doors. When she was living in an apartment that had smallish, oval-shaped doorknobs, i saw her cat use his paws to turn the doorknob and get into a closet once.

Feeding my cats brings me nothing but joy...and relief from their goddamn whining.

I think dogs want to be humans. Cats seem ok with just being a cat. My cat sure seems cool with it. He doesn't feel the need to tell me anything. He speaks clearly enough as it is. "FEED ME" and "OUT" and "IN" and "SCRATCH HERE"

I think the only thing that goes thru his mind when I feed him is "please let it be live mice this time, please, please...."
