Alright chimps!
Here is a very far from definitive, non-authoritative and highly subjective mix of electronic mung. I think the most accurate title would probably be 'electronic tracks I enjoyed during 2004 or thereabouts'. Anyway, this is a window on one tangent of my tastes in the area which is more about texture than rhythm, if I get time I'll try and cobble together a sister compendium of rude beatmash. This is all very accessible and supremely easy on the ear.
I'd like to dedicate this to kerble et bumble - I think I mentioned last October that I'd 'sort you out' with a compilation of billowing ambience and then never got around to it. Here tis:
Vol1 - A bomb made of jazz and feathers
Vol2 - A new face in Hull feat. DJ Guts

I've just attempted to remix a track over breakfast for my friend Paul who records as Strategy (also on kranky). What was a four to the floor disco walloper with clav stabs and handclaps now sounds like someone falling down the stairs.
Edit: Another - A downbeat, wintry wisp of a demo sketch.

57body riddle by clark is one of the best electronic albums in a while, really great from start to finish. saw him supporting tortoise last year and he was great live too.
a few electronic artists off the top off my head i'd recommend are
william basinski

venetian snares - the one with a hugarian title
mu ziq
squarepusher - feed me weird things
aphex twin - windowlicker
two lone swordsmen - tiny reminders, stay down
dj pinch - quwaali
skream
lfo
kid 606 - down with the scene/ ps i love you
belong
fennesz
brian eno
goblin
tangerine dream
autechre - incunabula (everything is great but their first album is probably the best place to start)

bjork
the knife
prefuse 73
machine drum
dabrye
drexciya

58Nathan Fake. He's very good live.
I also like Surgeon, very cold and minimalistic.

I'll second that - Chris Clark (or just plain Clark as he's known now) is brilliant stuff.
I especially recommend his 'Ceramics is the Bomb' EP and 'Empty the Bones of You' LP from 2003.
Check out his latest stuff here: http://www.myspace.com/throttleclark
