I know a few people who have just smoked way too much grass over periods of time varying between a couple of months and a couple of years.

I don't mean to suggest that such a "lifestyle" is good for you. These people just like to smoke grass. Anecdotal evidence seems to support the theory that it makes one stupider, which is crap. However, it's probably easier to rebound from smoking up tons of weed than it is to kick a similarly gigantic alcohol problem.

It's a close call, but I vote "not crap" as this particular affliction seems relatively minor. I'm also told that it makes certain jobs/chores more enjoyable (e.g., cleaning a pool, washing a dish, mopping a floor). These are beautiful activities -- the world is made better because they are done. Not crap!

Perhaps it does - if one can get off one's ass and begin to perform said chore.

concerning the "lazy pothead" stereotype, i have always been really astounded at how reggae musicians smoke so much weed (generally) and yet have the most consistent/diligent work ethic (generally). so many reggae musicians (bob marley, lee perry, sly and robbie, sizzla, the barrett brothers) are so prolific and hard-working and yet they are potheads beyond what we see in america. its like they follow two traditions (industrious musicianship and ganja smoking) that should conflict with each other, but they dont.

also, could it be that theyre so consistent and reliable with rhythm and timing because they smoke pot? some people say its because theyre black, but i think its because of the weed, they just get faded and zone into the rhythm.

So, marijuana makes for diligent reggae playing.

so, so much for the "lazy pothead" stereotype. i think steve is the only musician on these boards whose work ethic compares with that of most stoner reggae musicians.

and how many of us compare with reggae artists when it comes to timing/rhythm? either its cuz of the pot or its cuz theyre all black.
