Either-Or: Cats vs Dogs

There was a time, not too many years ago, really, that I thought a little bit less of a man for preferring cats over dogs. Okay to like cats. But liking cats and not dogs? I've since become more enlightened or something, but I occasionally feel it creep back in, just a tiny bit.

I've been allergic to cats since I was about 21, but am considering getting a series of shots to take care of this, as we have talked about getting a cat (my wife is a dog person, too; no farking way I would have married her otherwise) for our daughter.

I have grown to enjoy cats quite a bit, but it's dogs-big ones, specifically-for me all the way.

I would like my first dog to be

either;

a chocolate lab,

or a weimaraner

these dogs are sort of translucent, not really, but they take on differen't tones depening on their surroundings. they look slightly purple sometimes, grey, bronze, and black. it's weird.

my family has an awesome shorthaired pointer. she's getting old though :(

I grew up with a Weimaraner. They're great dogs. Smart, fast, intuitive...

I was in my late teens when we had to put her down. She loved car rides, so I gave her a long car ride on that final day. Even though she lived to be eighteen years old, her death still bothers me to this day. She was a great friend.

Get a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Excellent dogs, very good natured, but big enough to scare the hell out of someone who needs scaring.

2 reasons.

1) I am extremely allergic to cats.

2) I fucking hate cats. They are stupid. They don't answer to their name. They don't listen when you tell them to do or not to do something. They don't come when you call them. Etc. etc.

My cat always comes running when I call his name. And he listens.

Cats probably sense that you don't like them. Do you listen to people you don't like?
