does someone have it out for me?

This is really getting out of hand.

This past Sunday I had a friend move into my house. His lease ran out and he needed a place to stay.

I told about the events that have transpired in the past couple weeks. He first thought I was pulling his leg and just trying to freak him out, and then he was just freaked out.

I have since installed a new lock and a deadbolt on the front door, and there is a wooden beam preventing the sliding door from being opened. There is no way into the house without breaking glass.

This very morning I went about my usual routine. Shower, get dressed, make a lunch, eat some cereal, make some coffee, put on shoes.

Just as I am putting on my shoes my roomate wakes up and chats with me for a minute. I then get up and leave through the front door and lock both the deadbolt and the doorknob.

10 minutes later I receive a call from my roomate. He asks i f I left a burner on. I tell him that I didn't, and ask what's going on.

Apparently after I left he tried going back to bed. About 5 minutes later he smelled some burning, and then the smoke detector went off. When he came down the stairs he saw the the back left burner was turned on high. This is the same burner that was on last time. I have never used that burner.

Of course my roomate thinks that I am playing jokes on him. He is borderline hysterical and really freaking out. Many of you may think that he is playing a trick on me, but I'm sure it's not the case. He was almost in tears, and is now talking about moving out.

Anyhow, this particular incedent proves that a human being is not turning on the stove. I don't know what is turning it on, but the only two people in the house (it's a very small house, nowhere to hide) were my roomate and I, and as soon as I left I deadbolted the house, so there was no way someone could get in.

I must say I am a little releived because I'm pretty sure it's not a person trying to ruin my life. However, this is getting to be really strange.

This has happened 3 times in 2.5 weeks. All I know at this point is that it's not an accident.

for some reason, the more things that happen the less scared i get.

i also found out that the guy that built my house and studio (and the other two A-frames that are next to me), who is also the guy that died on the roof of my studio, he was also the owner of the abandoned ski resort accross the road. Andapparently his daughter died in one of theother A-Frames, not sure how it happened though. The guy that lives in that house says he's got a ghost there, but i don't really believe anything that guy says.

You have to make a firm commitment to us that you will keep us posted on everything that happens with this.

It's an electric burner, right? I'd suggest going to a hardware store/HD and making (or buying) an extension cord for the stove. Run this to a convinient location and keep the stove unplugged when you're not using it. Alternatively, you could buy a child proofer knob for the stove. These two things could prevent something from turning the stove on.

I think it's your cats, dude.

No need, I have been turning off the breaker for the stove. I didn't think I would need to this morning since my roomate was home and theoretically there was no way this could have happened.

Sorry dude, but this is entirely impossible. The knobs are child proof and very firm. You must push them in with force, and then turn while applying pressure. You must have opposable thumbs to do this, which my cats do not. Besides, if they somehow freakishly/accidentally/magically turned the stove on once, that's one thing. There is no way they could have accidentally done it three times in two weeks.

THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT, dude.

My home is out in the woods. I dont lock it.

When we came home i noticed that it was unusually warm in my house. Then I noticed that the large burner on my stove was set to high.

I know for a fact that we did not turn on the burner. It had not been used in almost 2 days prior.

It seems like no big deal... but the more I think about it the more it freaks me out. somebody turned on that burner, on purpose. If only my cats could talk.

wtf?

holy fuck this happened to me once!! exact goddamned same thing!!
