oh man, they love that shit down here.

I bet they'd love SunnO)))) as well. Wizard Core. This is a school where people like to dress up and swordfight on a weekly basis.

maybe they're thinking they need a soundtrack for this?

That is great!

I actually walked into Ida Noyes Hall the other week to find about forty middle-aged men and women dressed up in medieval garb, having a feast and swordfighting. I shit you not.

As far as the insufferable hipsters, well, at least you will be in the proper environment to throw an elbow or two.

I used to have a dorm room overlooking the Midway, and every once in a while, I would see this dude practicing with a bolo, all swinging it over his head really fast and trying to nail trees with it. It looked sort of cool and dangerous.

I thought the college was trying to go more "mainstream," and distance itself from the sort of nerdery we're discussing. I admit that I would have preferred more cute girls around, but there was something charming about being in a place where most people lacked basic social skills.

The only reason I might miss the Lightning Bolt show is if I have somewhere else to be... I mean, seriously: point the first, missing out on a good show just because of hipsters is just lame, don't let other people ruin your fun; point the second, such a practice would, if extended, basically rule out any concert in Chicago; point the third, if you're going to a Lightning Bolt concert one of those hipsters is probably looking at you and thinking, "God, fucking hipsters are all over the place." You probably won't be wearing such ugly clothes, though.

I lived in that same dorm, Coulter house.

Zimmer wants to turn us into Harvard. I say fuck that shit. I came here to be an absolute geek in an appropriate ecosystem, not for some sort of Ivy League class-ring-flashing lazy bullshit.

ALSO GUYS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH D&D :(

OK, I agree with you. When I quoted in the "insufferable hipsters" comment, I think was trying to aim more at the "insufferable" part. As in, the worst type of WHPK brat, or maybe the irritating twat from a discussion section who thinks he is the coolest and smartest thing ever. The U of C attitude produces a lot of incredibly arrogant people, and the institution itself goes a long way toward engendering this. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. It is a relief that I may stand a good chance of not recognizing many of these people...

Although I don't understand why they picked the Cobb basement, I do plan to enjoy the show.

I lived in Mathews.
