Not Crap. Plastic Surgery Disasters is my fucking jam. It is my favorite record; the music, the lyrics, the sequence...it's all perfect to me. I listen to this album at least once a week (usually once a day). Great fucking band. Even Bedtime is a solid album and Frankenchrist has some really great songs.

It's a shame that things ended up how they did, with the band and Jello at each other's throats. I don't know whose side to believe as far as money being witheld or whatever, but I definitely agree that using "Holiday in Cambodia" in a Levi's commercial goes against everything the band stood for. And Jello Biafra seems too damn cool to do anything sleazy like he's been accused of.

Nothing like bringing back old topics!

Dead Kennedys were one of the first bands that really knocked me on my ass. I discovered them before I was...uh..."able" to comprehend them, which made me all the more excited when I found them again months later and was floored.

All the records are excellent, the later stuff included.

My favorite is Bedtime for Democracy. "The Great Wall." End of discussion.

i think 'magic the gathering' is the premise of nerds, not geeks. i'm a geek but i shall never sink to the ranks of a nerd. nerds watch star trek and play magic the gathering. nyah nyah!

also, choose a new username.
'tommy' is a stupid fucking name.

See, to me, the terms are reversed, but the definitions remain the same. Nerds are more the English/PoliSci majors. Geeks are the people who can fix your computer while reading English-Klingon translations of "Hamlet" (which is something I have actually seen).

Therefore, I would never stoop to the level of being a geek.

The Dead Kennedys were awesome, but I find Plastic Surgery Disasters to be an overrated record; you can't make a convincing case for shit salads like "Winnebago Warrior" and "Trust Your Mechanic," and a lot of the lyrics are stupid/whiny in comparison to earlier masterpieces like "Chemical Warfare" and "Kill The Poor." (Think "Halloween" here - those lyrics suck a nut.) However, the second side of Plastic Surgery Disasters has some of the best stretches of Dead Kennedys music you'll find; the overwhelming one-two end punch of "Dead End" and "Moon Over Marin" may be the band's finest moment on record. As a whole, though, I just feel like Plastic Surgery Disasters isn't the best Dead Kennedys record: that still is Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables. I haven't heard Frankenchrist yet, although I have heard it is one of their best.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

"Plastic Surgery Disasters" sounds so tinny. And Peligro is going so fast. To me, those are the major things. It's a completely different record than "Fresh Fruit." I'll always remember smuggling these two CD reissues into my house as a 13-year-old. Biafra's politics are naive, but that doesn't keep me from voting NOT CRAP.

odd that no one has mentioned Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death other than the police truck song...the guitar solo on Little Buzzbomb From Pasadena is phenomenal!
