I have a Fender Pro Junior, of the old ones, Made in USA. i paid 130 for it, and put some extra bucks because it was a bit touched (for some reason they cancelled the power amp section, so the volume was very low).
It sounds good, i guess. But i have several problems with it:
- It buzzes. It works like an antenna.. i move my guitar and it´s bzzz all the time.
- It rattles. When it´s at high volume, it rattles all the time, is annoying.
- It doesn´t have enough ouput for a medium-sized gig.
- It´s a bit fragile. i have to recone the speaker TWO times, one after a gig, and another after playing a mxr blue box thru it.
So, i was always thinking about, "well, maybe i can sell it for 350 bucks, and buy a Fender solidstate, that will be more reliable, sound relatively good, and will be way louder, and i will have less problems with it". And then i think "shut up asshole! you have a pro junior! it´s a great amp! you can mike it and use it for recording and stuff!"
but i dont mike stuff, i have very bad mics and only a digital environment to work with. I tried to mic it several times and the results are always much better through a POD (please don´t kill me for this statement).
So, any comments, or i´m just a total idiot?
Convince me of not selling my Fender Pro Junior.
2You're no idiot. This amp isn't doing it for you and now you're considering other options . No problem. Get another small tube amp. Sell the Fender. I can't help but notice your resigned tone , like , "I must choose between crap and... different crap." No Jose . It might be harder in South America but, have faith that you will find something else.

3Break the damned thing. That is what I did to a piece of shit Vox (Cambridge 30 Twin Reverb) that I foolishly bought. It will make you feel better. Burn it...kick it...shoot it...whatever...just kill the thing.

4Don't do it.
Done.
Done.

5they are selling the laney valve vox replicas here.. for about 800-900s. i think they are pretty good, but well.
anybody had problems with the buzzing and rattling? i read several posts in some forums and it´s all like "yeah the container that hold the tubes sometimes rattle.. to fix it.. well, be creative!". fuck off.

Seriously, you should be creative! First take your screwdriver and make sure all the guts are screwed down properly. Then get a tube of silicone caulk and squirt it between all the places that rattle. This WILL make a big difference. Basically jam soft non-conductive material between clackety shit.
I'm assuming you get the power amp section reconnected? Perhaps it was not grounded properly when this was done, hence the buzzing sound.
Whether you're going to keep it or sell it, you should have it at its best performance.

if it helps, i recently bought the new version of the Vox AC15 and it sounds pretty damn good indeed - they are on sale over here for around £350 (which is about the same price as a Fender Blues Junior).

you are right. there´s also a chance that the buzzing comes from the grounding in my own house. need to try it in a different place. also i think the el84 tubes are a bit old. need to do an overall re-check.

9Crate makes some good, inexpensive tube amps. I can vouch for the Vintage Club series.

10we practice through a pair of these (one is a blues Jr..but basically the same circuit). It's probably not show volume-and if that's what you need, and can't afford to keep it for recording, then by all means sell it and get something bigger.
We replaced speakers...the 'fender special design' suck ass. and upgraded mine (the blues jr) to tung-sol tubes, which quit the rattling (also removed the reverb tank...but you don't have one of those).
There are quite a few nice lower wattage tube amps being made right now at reasonable prices. Has anyone seen a deluxe reverb copy on the cheap?

No one is paying you to sit on that bed and cry.
