Slint playing Spiderland in NYC

How do you think a $30 price tag is justified by any band? "Oh, well we had a great album back in the early nineties". So fucking what? I love Tweez, and Spiderland, but to charge that much just to see them live is ridiculous. Why not go the route of Fugazi (a better band, in my opinion) and keep the prices low? Some people might say it's not up to the band, but the venue, but they could fight for it if they wanted to.

Just to answer your question...
They're boring !!!!!!!
Although most fuckers would say they were kinda experimental in their days.
Maybe they're from the States.

I hated their music then, I still hate their music now.
I threw away Explosion In The Sky CDs for sounding too much like Fucking Slint !!!!

It's sad how much I have to think this when I go to shows.

Seconded.

I didn't have my life changed by Slint, so I wouldn't pay $30 to see them. I also didn't like Spiderland much when I first heard it. It took a while for me to admit it's a good record. The more I listen to them, the more I take back the shit I talked on Tweez. Why spend $30 on a band of which I'm just not really that big of a fan? I wouldn't spend $30 to see a lot of bands. The only reason I spent $35+$12 in charges for Morrissey tickets is because my brother really wanted me to go with him, so I said okay. 1,000 fucking morons around me crying because they feel like they're seeing Jesus Christ? Fuck that shit.

Shows for the most part have a lot to do lately for me with how I feel about the crowd...or what it will be like. I mean, I like a few hardcore bands from around here, but I NEVER go to their shows because it erupts into a fight or some other bullshit. Indie rock shows are just kids with super-tight jeans and tight American Apparel t-shirts with thick glasses and high hair who drink and bitch about how they really love the Decemberists. No one has any fucking balls!

I'd rather turn the up the heat in my apartment to stifling levels while standing for four hours between three bookcases, staring a picture of the band I printed out and hung on the wall and blasting "Spiderland" instead of spending $30.

What a fucking cock.

I don't particularly think £15/$30 is a great price, but I can afford to spend that to see a band I'd really like to see live, I guess I'll pay that 3 or 4 times a year maximum. It's what? 6 pints at a pub? The cost of a couple DVDs?

Fugazi get the respect they deserve because of how they act, but even they get paid. I paid £10/$20 to see them live, that's only a fiver/tenner less.

It's not like Slint are the RHCP or U2, living it up as millionaires then charging £50-£60/$100-$120 to watch them play in some shitty sounding arena from the back of a crowd of thousands.

Who the fuck would want to see those overblown hacks anyways?

Man, I'm sure that's what everyone's thinking when they see Slint..."for twenty bucks more, I could be seeing fucking Chili Peppers!"

I don't know man. I've kinda dug his stuff for years. And when I mean "kind of dug," I mean, sorta like. And when I say "sorta like," I mean I can make it through a record feeling like it wasn't a complete waste of time and gaining minor enjoyment.
