Mother bears are fiercely protective of their cubs. I wonder if the guy holding that cub is still alive, or a steaming heap of mangled flesh?

I once encountered a bear cub in the wilderness. I must have bewildered it by screaming and running away as fast as I could. That's exactly what you aren't supposed to do, but dad put the fear of god in us in regards to dealing with bears. Thank the lord that mom bear didn't try to look me up.

I don't understand why they wouldn't feed it.
They'd have to at some point, as it got older, anyway.
I mean, I assume the adult polar bears don't have prey
to hunt in the zoo.
Or are the city streets and sidewalks of Germany teeming
with seals and walrus?
