You didn't tell us very much about the problem so here is some general advice to setup the beast.
Connect to your Mac and the router with an Ethernet cable.
Go to System Preferences - Network - Show Ethernet - click TCP/IP. Is it setup to use DHCP? If not set it to use DHCP and see, if the IP address changes. Now: What is your IP Adress? If it starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then the router has no DHCP enabled and you need to know the IP adresse of the router. Maybe it is printed on the routers back or in the manual.
Most likely the router will have DHCP enabled and your Mac gets an IP address starting with 192.xxx.xxx.xxx or 172.xxx.xxx.xxx. If so, look at the IP address of the router in the field "Router". Copy the address and paste it in your web browser. (Safari often doesn't work for routers. I had best experiences using Firefox.) You should get a login prompt. Enter the user and pass of the admin of the router. This will be some default value you can look up in the manual. Often it is something like user admin pass 1234. Enter this information and you will get to the configuration of the router. Since I don't know the model I cannot tell you how to set it up in detail, but most likely there is some kind of "setup wizard" asking you for the important details, like your user name and pass for your connection.
If you already did this, have a valid IP address on your Mac that does not start with 169... then it is likely that you just have to add a DNS server to your TCP/IP config in the System Preferences. The field is labeled "DNS-Server". It's best to use the IP of a DNS from your provider but you could also try 212.63.33.66.
Hope that helps.
could you help me setup this wireless-ethernet router? Mac?
13ok...here's a more detailed list of the many many problems i'm having setting this fucker up..
1. there are soo many settings in the config pages that i'm complete lost..
that's about it..
tried to use the dns server number..hm...i am lost and my isp only understands spanish..

14This might be a stupid question, but did you unlock the modem i.e. type in your account name and password? It's usually required when you first set up.

15seems like a dumb question..but i have no idea at this point.
screw it..everything i've read about this fucker in relation to macs make it seem useless...drops connections/burns out..
why the hell would a router burn out after a year?
what the fuck?

16To be clear, you can actually access the router settings, right?
Also, try and connect without the ethernet connection to ensure that the wireless works.
EDIT: wait, you've had your router/net connection working for a while and it stopped working all of a sudden, or you're just having trouble initially setting it up?

18So how is it going?
Even if the config pages have many options in most cases it should be enough to find the section where you setup how you connect to the net. This section is often labelled "WAN" or simply "Internet". There you must tell the router how you connect (PPPoE, static IP, DHCP...). PPPoE is the most common in germany and don't know about Spain. If it is PPPoE you also have to fill in your user name and pass for the connection though sometimes you only need a user name. This should be enough to get on the net via Ethernet.
When you have a working Ethernet connection you can start setting up the wireless part. This is often called "Wireless" or WLAN or Wireless LAN. Start without any protection and see if you can connect.
If you don't want any "guests" on you network you should then activate WPA security, give it a good password and try to connect again with the pass.
It's also a good idea to change the (default) password of the admin user on the router.

I don't know macs well enough to talk you through it without having one in front of me, but...
let us know what equipment you are using, e.g. router brand and model, modem brand and model.
