Kerble, you are right on the money. "Wedding Crashers" has a significant weakness: a bullshit romantic connection between Owen Wilson and his plain-Jane, horse-faced sexual interest. Who the fuck cares about this nonsense? More Vaughn!

If it were Vaughn for 90 minutes, the movie would constitute the Titanic of the comedy genre.

Horse-faced? Rachel McAdams?

Ok...that's original.

Vaughn in "Wedding Crashers". I've always thought of "40-yr. Old Virgin" as a comedy film for readers of MAXIM magazine. H8'ers can h8 on if they must, but this is the Bear's verdict.
...WHA?!?! Steve Carrell is sophomoric...sure, I can see that. But if he is in 40-yr. Old Virgin, than Vaughn MUST ALSO be in Wedding Crashers. Let's also look at the plots of the two movies in question and see which sounds more like a MAXIM plot:
(1)guy hasn't gotten to have sex by the time he's 40, but eschews easy lays to wait for someone he loves
(2)two guys crash weddings to get easy tail, but end up falling in love with attractive, rich women along the way

I loved "Anchorman," however.

What I mean is that the humor in "40 Yr Old Virgin" is all about juvenile, gross sex jokes. Carrell is not the main offender--his fellow employees are just so irritating in their vulgarity.

Vaughn's humor (at least in this film) is well-thought out and witty. He sounds like a guy you'd love to sit down and have five beers with. He knows his role. He's worldly-wise without being a boor or retarded.

MAXIM readers are just like Carrell's co-workers.

Vince Vaughn plays the same guy in every movie he's in. Insensitive, cocksure, braggadocious, and ultimately insignificant. It worked for him in Swingers and the dude has not. let. go. He can't carry a comedy. He definitely can not be a main character. That IS the problem with Dodgeball.

How someone can call Wedding Crashers the heir to Caddyshack and then say 40-year Old Virgin was crap because of sophomoric, vulgar humor is beyond my comprehension. Seriously, it's completely baffling.

Nerbly, it's like you have multiple personalities, but none of them has seen both movies.

this makes me think nerblybear has been a fake personality this whole time, i mean i can only hope. anchorman? seriously? more than 40 year old virgin? i'm not saying 40 year old virgin was genius, but it was genuinely funny at least 60% of the time.

there were only four funny parts to anchorman-- when ferrell busts out the flute, the relationship with his dog (only mildly), the black panther (or whatever it was called) cologne (like 40 seconds of funny) and the first 2 seconds of the group fight scene. everything else, especially paul rudd and christina applegate, was garbage.

i am going to watch wedding crashers tonight, and if it's not as good as caddyshack, you're fired as far as movie reviews are concerned.
