Oh yeah. He's a fair drummer. Nuttin' special.

Really?? I thought I heard he was something on the order of 6' or so. Seems plenty tall to me. (this coming from a guy who's all of 5' 7")

I think he was instrumental in making nirvana the band the were. They kind of set a standard for that kind of music. And I think it had a lot to do with his solid drumming.

Slop guitars+ Slop bass + Rock solid drummer = Awesome.

Slop guitars+ Slop bass+ Slop drums = Shit.

Just listen to Bleach next to the stuff DG played on and it's painfully obvious what a crucial role he played in that band. Even if you don't like Nirvana's music, you can't really deny that he was an incredible drummer.

1st Foo album was good, a few of the singles have been alright, QOTSA was what the kids call "off the hook."

Bleach is perhaps my favorite record of theirs, but you're correct. The best (and most distinctive) drums on that album were on the two songs that featured Dale Crover.

I'm a fan. Love the QOTSA record he plays on. Dig most of the nirvana catalog. The foo fighters records are generally pretty solid. I find that i usually like at least half of the songs on them. The probot record had some really great stuff on it & overall was an interesting project. He did some good drum work on that NIN record from last year or the year before too.

I love his drumming. I wish he had a more consistent outlet for that because i just plain dig listening to that guy bash away.

As a person...i've never met the man, but he seems like an awfully nice guy who is genuinely humble & thankful for his success.

The guitar riff gets all the credit, but the opening drum fill is what Pitchfork types might call the "salvo" in The Hit Which Doesn't Need To Be Named.
The drums make that song. Without it it's just 4 chords, a 2 note verse and a solo that follows the verses melody.

Fine band pre-Grohl, excellent band post-Grohl.
And this from a guy who rarely listens to them.

The man is pretty much a badass.
