Can anybody recommend a usable online drum machine or site with lots of free drum tracks?
After an extended respite from playing, I've decided to sit down and do a little 4-track recording.
Unfortunately, I left my drum machine (and drummer) on another continent.
I've been searching the net for a site with free drum loops and haven't come up with much. There are some online metronomes and such, but it seems like most of the shit out there consists of either 5-second tracks for looping or professional drummers' beats which you *gasp* have to pay for.
Any suggestions for free loops I can run directly onto my 4-track?
Thx. in advance.

2Not sure about loops as such, but there is a huge, free archive of individual drum machine samples here.
Someone will have to recommend a player to sequence and trigger them though although you can download a free time-limited copy of Audiomulch and use the very basic drum contraption in there, it's a cinch and will allow you to process the sounds easily too.
(Equally you could try something very basic like Hammerhead? that has preset sounds and will allow you to import a small selection of samples too.)

3www.freeloops.com ?
Another option would be to download a free VST host/sequencer (such as Reaper) and also the demo (one kit only) of Addictive Drums and program your own drum tracks.
Never used Addictive Drums myself, but it's rumored to be ace considering the (free) price (of the demo at least).

5I should add that you will have to programme in the beats yourself. It's a fairly simple step sequencer, and it doesn't take too long to get to grips with it.
The stock beats are shit.

The real question is how many different kinds of orchestra hits do you have? Also, do you have any sampled dog barks? Oh, and rave sirens.

not many.. 10-12 rave hits. sampled dogs i think none... rave sirens A LOT!! yes! and i also have mpc-style samples of major 7th chords from old vinyls.. so you can convert any song into a mediocre chill-out track!
so yeah, i'm a pussy.

9A much belated thanks for the tip. Any idea how to get things thing to work? I've downloaded all the installation files, but they seem to be corrupted.
How did you manage?
Thanks in advance.
