1966 Fender Jaguar

So I am in talks with buying a 1966 sunburst Jag. Everything on the guitar is stock *except* the body has been modified to accept humbuckers (which are residing in the guitar now). The neck is in amazingly great shape, and the body has about the average wear of a vintage guitar, but nothing "bad". I am not a collector, I want to play the guitar. I in fact would prefer humbuckers. So, I ask you, is this guitar worth $1000?

God yes.
Some of the wood is missing to make room for those pickups, but a new pickguard will cover the damage and you can get a new pickguard.

If you don't want it, give me his email address. I'll mail a check and a bottle of scotch.

Thanks folks... I knew it was a good deal, but I always grow paranoid about making any gear purchase over $500. I always think the worst and have to double and triple check. I have been obsessing over this for the last 10 hours. I saved up a bunch of money because I am moving to Chicago soon and the money was going to be my "I dont have to worry about shit for a few months money." Ah well...a deal like this doesnt come around everyday.

Sorry boys I am going in for the kill on this one.

I have to admit I have been doing pretty good on finding deals as of late. I was out of the music game for a few years. So I have gone gear crazy as of late (traynor, kasino, jazz bass), but I am also the guy that sold/traded:

2 Travis Bean Standards
1 Travis Bean Artist

1 1998 Rickenbacker 330
1 Gibson Les Paul
1 68 Gibson SG Special
1 Gibson SG Standard
1 1969 Fender Musicmaster

and

1 1984 Marshall JCM 800 50 watt single channel head

Sigh..things were much cheaper back in the 90s...I am slowly building back the arsenal!

these guitars are getting to be worth so much money now. i have a 62 jag that i bought when i was 17. i paid 800 dollars for it, which was a lot back then. now they sell for between 3 and 4k stock.

for this reason, i bought an all vintage 63 jazzmaster... scored the entire guitar for 500 dollars, save the fact that the original paint job has been stripped. so what! when i get it refinished it will still play and sound like a vintage jazzmaster.

snatch up all things fender cheap that you can find. have you SEEN the prices that vintage P basses go for these days?

on a more positive note. my 68 Traynor YBA-1A is working and kicking ass.

i also scored a Mesa/Boogie 400 bass head for $600 shipped with a flight case.

That fucking sucks. $1000 was a fine deal for such a guitar. I like the Jag. It sounds like a beautiful piece of equipment. My condolences.

Still, Viva the Telecaster. Viva.
