So I goto university, and sometimes my teachers use this symbol when writing things (looks like its short-hand for something), and I'm too embarrassed to ask what it is because I'm going to look very foolish.

It represents the holes all that X you did at the beginning of college rotted into your brain which caused you to turn in such shit work.
