The trilogy was awful, apart from the new album I think everything they've done on Ipecac has been hash. Colossus is a slightly different subject-I don't think it's a good record, even within it's respective genre, but it is interesting and I do think it serves some sort of purpose. I don't view them as the untouchable band that a lot of people do. I do love them though, Bullhead is one of my favourite albums of all time, and the three major label albums are all amazing as well as most of their work.

The new album is the best thing they've done for maybe 10 years.

Tricky one because of the line up changes. A recent release by them was basically by a couple of fringe members and it was awful.

None of us here have heard everything they've done, they release something every two minutes, so you can't really say- they don't have any bad albums I guess. But yeah, obviously this is just my opinion.

Troubadours is a record that I think is cack, that's why I put them in.

I also think the Boredoms have a lot of rubbish too, don't they? But they get away with it.

I think the last good album Shellac released was At Action Park, a stomping beast of a record. I like songs off Terraform and 1000 hurts too though, but it seems like there's this need to underachieve and to make sure that the album isn't 100% classic gold, which they so obviously could pull off if they wanted to.

You are correct, sir.

And Terraform may be my favorite recording from them. The mix is wonderful. Pretty strong songs too.

1000 Hurts got listened to 1000 less times by me. It has some tired stuff on it.

Not so great? I think that album's amazing, and all things considered, it might be my favourite. Granted, there are certain songs on other albums that are better, but I like the way it hangs together. Reclamation is an amazing opening, and when you get to KYEO it really feels like the finish line. I think Killtaker's the only album since that approaches its greatness.


This record begins with "Exit Only". "Reclamation" is the second song.

Otherwise, I agree that it's a terrific collection of songs, if not a terrific recording of those songs.
