What I keep getting from the show is the paranoia and isolation Tony is feeling. The whole idea that "it's lonely at the top," keeps popping up over and over. Watching Tony is like watching somebody who has spent their whole life looking behind their back and is slowly realising that they will die alone.

I think the thing with Vito's kid was just one more thing to get Tony pissed off at Phil (for not stepping up as family, and because he's the one who clipped Vito, etc.). I don't think half the episode needed to be taken up watching a goth kid act like a douche though. They could have had Phil call Tony a fag in one scene and achieved the same effect.

I'm almost glad this show will be over soon.
