Do yourself a favor and track down a pal with VH1 Classic if you don't have it. The BBC Crown Gems series is brilliant. The "Sounds For Saturday" Faces concert they are showing is so good it's crazy.

43When I finally listened to the Hold Steady with an open mind, I found a very good band. I agree with whoever said they get just about the right credit they deserve.
And I like half or more of the bands on here, and strongly dislike exactly one. It's just that none of them can fairly be called underappreciated by anything BUT Rolling Stone standards. Quality of music on list- Not Crap, for the most part, cool that Tom Waits won. But accuracy, as crap as it gets

44Well, to give RS credit, the list does in fact have 25 bands on it, just as advertised. If they got the quantity as wrong as they got everything else, the list would have 412 bands on it. And it still wouldn't list Slint.
